Local Enterprise & Innovation

The backbone of the United Kingdoms of Bamenda (UKB) economy lies in the hands of its people—entrepreneurs, artisans, farmers, and small business owners who fuel everyday life and local prosperity. Through our Local Enterprise & Innovation program, UKB is creating an enabling environment where ideas can flourish, businesses can grow, and communities can thrive.

We recognize that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are not only key to job creation but are also powerful engines of economic resilience, creativity, and self-reliance. Whether it’s a roadside tailor, a neighborhood baker, a digital startup, or a community agricultural co-op—UKB is investing in your success.

Our government provides a range of financial and non-financial support to help local enterprises start, scale, and succeed. This includes microloans, equipment grants, business mentorship, and market access programs. Special attention is given to youth- and women-led businesses, ensuring inclusive economic participation and leadership.

We are also nurturing a national culture of innovation and problem-solving. UKB supports business incubators, tech hubs, artisan cooperatives, and rural enterprise zones where entrepreneurs can access shared resources, mentorship, training, and product development tools. These innovation spaces are linked with universities, vocational centers, and research institutions to bridge knowledge and practice.

Local industries—including agro-processing, furniture-making, textile production, and digital services—are being strengthened through policy reforms, infrastructure development, and domestic market protections. We are building a circular economy that keeps value within our communities and reduces dependency on foreign goods.

To help small businesses thrive in the digital age, UKB also offers e-commerce training, digital marketing support, and business registration assistance through our e-Government portal.

Our vision is simple: when local businesses succeed, the nation prospers. By supporting entrepreneurship at the grassroots, we are not only creating jobs—we are fostering innovation, community pride, and long-term wealth creation.

UKB stands with every hustler, dreamer, and builder—because your ambition is our national asset.
